MISSION STATEMENT |

Desert
Light Film Competition, promoted by the Otero County Film Office,
fosters the development of the New Mexico film industry by
showcasing the work of New Mexico high school and middle school
students. |

Goals: |

Encourage creative film arts with practical experience and
educational seminars.

Increase the number of New Mexican filmmakers who will
ultimately participate in a professional film industry being
established in New Mexico.

Grow and nurture this industry from the ground up, anticipating
that the legacy and heritage of New Mexico will be reflected in
their future.

- $5.00 entry fee

- Drama/Comedy
- Documentary (no newscasts)
- Animation
- Music Video
- Special Category: Political
Campaign Advertisement – choose your favorite candidate. These
commercials should be 30 seconds in length, with no credits.

- Best of Festival (any division or
category)
- First Place and Honorable Mention
(every division and category, at the judges’ discretion)

Registration in the Rohovec Theater lobby from 8:30 to 9:00 AM
Screening of submissions and seminars designed especially for high
school and middle school filmmakers
Lunch
Afternoon screening of more submissions and a second seminar for
every student
Reception and Awards Ceremony in the Rohovec Theater from 4:30 to
5:30 PM |
